WORK PROGRESS

Individually, we were given a basic layout to be proposed for a single storey tiny house project. The tiny house should consists of basic spaces such as living area, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom and may propose balcony or patio as additional space without changing the existing layout given by the lecturer.

I sketched out rough drafts for the first week, then came out with a floor plan with all the furniture based on IKEA catalog and the necessary basic spaces.

My tutor was fine with my house's layout and wanted to focus more on the structure of the house such as roofing, skirting and the ground line etc. Many stuffs were taken in consideration such as windows and built-in cabinets to reach or put on a certain height and dropping down ceilings to be more logical.

A few days before submission with the last tutorial, I made some changes on my floor plan and sectional elevations based on the tutor's recommendation and followed her suggestion for our detail drawings to be more on the built-in stuff of our house such as doors and windows. I finalised everything and inked them on A2 drawing blocks for submission.

REFLECTION

Through this project, I have learnt how to draw a floor plan with the correct scale. Besides, drawing an interior space with a floor plan to the exact symbol and scale was what I have learnt through this project. I was able to design the interior space of an area where I got the chance to experience what is to be like as an interior designer. I was able to identify all the basic necessity of a person as I have to decide every furniture in the area such as lightings and windows.

In addition, I also learned what a very simple and basic house structure would look like, opening my eyes to a new type of architectural drawing.

In conclusion, I learned the much more of the technical sides of drawing especially its uses in architecture and the basic drafting skills with drawing that express three-dimensional space through a series of two-dimensional drawings.
