BASIC ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWING

ItDRAWING Assignment 1(B) - Group

Students are required to continue the same group and are required to select a furniture within the university. Students are required to draw the top view, side view and section view with precise measurement and to scale.

Objectives of this Project:

 1. Interpret the type of drawing representation used in the construction industry

 2. Apply drawing as a means of communication in the construction industry

WORK PROGRESS

With the same group, We went around in the university to look for furniture to draw on. We found a few choices and jot them down and took pictures of them and discuss which furniture to finalise on.

 

Looking through all of our choices, we came to an agreement to draw a long bench outside of the library. However, halfway through the drawing completion, we found out that it was too simple and looked mostly equal at all sides with not much complexityand was concerned with low grades.

With 2 days before submission, we then decided to go with the architectural drafting table in the design studios, and took the measurements of the table and decided on the measurement scale.

​

We then arranged all the drawings such as plan, elevation and section views onto A2 drawing blocks, written down the requirements needed in the boards and pass it up for submission.

REFLECTION

Through this project, I have learnt how to draw proper orthographic drawings using the correct tools. Paying attention to the finest details like the lines drawn was quite challenging as my hands were not very used to it so it was shaking a bit which caused the lines to be not so perfect. I also learnt to draw objects to the scale to fit into board and not look too big or small.

In addition, I also learnt to write down measurements in the correct way so that the whole drawing will not look untidy. Line weight was used to show parts that are nearer to the viewer was also shown in these drawings.

​

In conclusion, this project had proved me wrong as I did not believe myself that I can draw things that are with many details and specifications. Therefore, I will try drawing more complicated orthographics to be prepared for more during degree.
